Welcome to the web site of the Cape Higher Education Consortium
The Cape Higher Education Consortium (CHEC), is a collaborative project of four tertiary education institutions in the Province of the Western Cape of South Africa. Map
The content of this web site is chiefly of interest to those involved with educational policy development, collaboration and capacity development within the Western Cape and South Africa.
CHEC represents four tertiary education institutions in the Western Cape of South Africa: the University of Cape Town, University of Stellenbosch, University of the Western Cape and Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
A discussion paper, prepared for the Cape Higher Education Consortium in September 2002, provides the best statement of current policy and thinking on systemic regional collaboration.
The Vice Chancellors and Heads of the Universities and Technikon in the Western Cape signed a ground breaking compact of behaviour on 3rd December 2001. The Compact commits their institutions to work together to build a coherent higher education system in the region through academic programme collaboration.

Welcome to Christian network links for Africa!
The aim of these pages is to provide links to Web pages and other Internet resources concerned with Christianity in Africa. We have even included a few non-internet resources, like computer bulletin board services (BSSs), which can still perform a useful service in providing cheap electronic communications in some parts of Africa.

Community H.E.A.R.T. (Health Education And Reconstruction Training), a UK based Registered Charity, was set up when Nelson Mandela was elected President of free South Africa to overcome apartheid's awful legacy.
Together with our partners in South Africa we give priority to health, education and reconstruction training projects based on the principle of self-help. We try not to run projects but give support to local initiatives, small and large.
People all over the world can now play a role in South Africa and the Southern African Region by helping people to gain the skills they need to rebuild their countries.

The Consortium for Research on Educational Access, Transitions and Equity (CREATE) was established in January 2006 to develop and encourage the application of knowledge to improve access to basic education. Over 100 million children in the developing world remain excluded from primary school and over 250 million fail to access secondary schooling through to grade 9. CREATE is developing a programme of research focused on countries in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa to analyse policy and practice designed to reduce exclusion. Its aim is to increase access to knowledge and capabilities that can reduce poverty and enhance progress towards the Millennium Development Goals. CREATE is Directed by Professor Keith Lewin and co-ordinated from the Centre for International Education, University of Sussex.
